The Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary (MSHR), Ghana Region, under the leadership of Sr. Nkechi Caroline Oraebosi, has recently organized a Live-in, also called “Come and See” Programme, for young women within Ghana and beyond, seeking to discern their missionary vocation.

Participants at the Live-in programme which took place at the Holy Rosary Sisters Convent, Asikasu-Donkorkrom, in the Diocese of Donkorkrom, Eastern Region of Ghana, were a combination of both Aspirants and Pre-candidates of the Congregation, from Ghana, Togo and the Republic of Benin.

The Aspirancy stage of MSHR Formation is a minimum period of one year during which any young woman who feels called by God to missionary life, contacts the Vocation Directress and visits any community of the MSHR nearest to her.

The Pre-candidacy stage which lasts for at least one year, is a stage during which the interested aspirant, having completed her Secondary School, and met the academic requirements, is helped and encouraged to have work experience and more exposure to life. During this time, she visits a specific MSHR community every month to share in the life of the Sisters.

The “Come and See” Programme which ran from August 10 to 13, 2026 featured various activities including Talks on the History of the Congregation, Vision, Mission, Values, Gracious Living, Relationships: Love and Friendship, Qualities of a good Christian/Catholic Young woman, Anger, Forgiveness and Conflict Management, delivered by the Sisters at different times.

Other activities included Private and Community Prayers, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Spiritual Reading, and daily Masses celebrated by Rev. Fr. Solomon Gbeglo, Assistant Administrator of the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Donkorkrom, who in his homilies encouraged the young women to make maximum use of the opportunity and dispose themselves, in quiet and meditation, in order to hear God’s Voice speaking to them.

There was also a Movie night, as well as a Cultural Night where participants showcased their various cultures in dance, by way of celebrating their diversity.

The dances featured the “Adowa” of the Akans, “Borborbor” and “Agbadja” of the Ewes, the “Bawaah” of the Daagabas” all in Ghana, the “Kamou” of Togo and the “Koithesi” of Benin Republic.

The young women also made a tour to the Holy Rosary Poultry Farm, where they took delight in the exercise of picking eggs.

The Live-in Programme was graced by the presence of Sr. Ekwutosi Onyeke, MSHR, long-time Vocation Directress and newly appointed Regional Leader of MSHR, Southern Nigeria, who happened to have been in the country at the beginning of the programme, and took participants through the History, Mission, Vision and Values of the Congregation.

In an evaluation at the end of the 4-day programme, participants expressed deep satisfaction and great learning, of all that went into the programme, as they looked forward to more of such opportunities.
