He made this declaration in a homily during the April 26, 2026, Good Shepherd or Vocation Sunday Mass, at the Weija Leprosarium. He reflected on the word “Vocation” which comes from the Latin word “Vocare” meaning “to call”.
He brought it to the awareness of the children, as well as adults, that God has called them in various capacities to serve Him, and they must respond to the call with seriousness and devotion.
“Whatever God has put in your hand, you have to hold it well,” he buttressed, citing the example of one Mr. John, one of the residents, who has, and continues to use his talent in the arts to glorify God.
The said man, despite his physical disability, happened to have designed the Divine Mercy Portrait sitting right before the ambo at the altar, and also wrote the inscription “Mother Teresa” at the entrance of their home, among other beautiful works.
The Ghanaian Missionary referred to Priests, Religious Brothers and Sisters who have been called to serve God in Various capacities, making specific reference to his brother Priest and Community member, Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, SVD, an Irish Missionary and the founder of the edifice they were all benefitting from.
He encouraged the learners of the Fr. Campbell SVD Foundation to focus on the unique calls they have each received from God, whether to be caterers, mechanics, tailors, or whichever skill, and cautioned them to guard against attitudes that do not honour God’s call, like noisemaking in the Church, stealing, insulting each other, among other displeasures.
In the light of the day’s Gospel, Fr. Wormenor urged the faithful to always remember that they have been called, and so they must constantly seek to know what God wants them to do for Him at each given moment.
“Pray that God will reveal Himself to you with what He wants you to do and use that to serve Him,” he implored.
The SVD Priest introduced two members of the Society of African Missions (SMA), Bro. Joseph Worthington and Bro. Stephen Phillips, who were present at the Mass, as people who had sacrificed themselves to serve God among the less privileged in Africa.
The two Brothers, both of American descent, work with people with disabilities at the Liberia Camp, Buduboram, Accra, and with the Hope for Life Handicapped Brothers and Sisters Association, respectively.
He also introduced Sr. Sylvie Lum Cho, a Cameroonian Missionary, who is the Vocations Directress of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary (MSHR), Ghana Region, who had joined them for the Mass. She doubles as Coordinator of the Department of Social Communication (DEPSOCOM) of the Apostolic Vicariate of Donkorkrom in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
By way of inspiring especially the young people, the Priest allotted each of the Consecrated persons present some minutes to share a bit of their Vocation stories with the faithful.
