Obaapanyin Rose Adwoa Deku, International President of the St. Theresa Society, has paid a courtesy visit to the Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu, SVD, Bishop of Donkorkrom Apostolic Vicariate, and donated 20,000 GHC to support the construction of a permanent Altar and Ambo for the Cathedral.

She was accompanied by some Council Members of the Society, namely: Opanin Mary Ekyirefi, International PRO, of the Society, Opanin Mary Ofoe, past International Executive Council Member, and Opanin Rosemary Korang, Accra Archdiocesan Vice President and member of the International Council.

Also joining them on the trip was Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Gosu, Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Parish, Kpehe, in the Archdiocese of Accra, who doubles as the Archdiocesan Chaplain for the St. Theresa Society.

Disclosing the purpose of the August 12, 2025 visit, Fr. Gosu, who is a native of Adeemmra, in the Vicariate, revealed that following the recent International Delegates Congress of the St. Theresa Society in Accra, which the Bishop attended in his capacity as the Episcopal Chair for Laity, the newly installed 10th International President, Obaapanyin Rose, saw the need to visit the Bishop to show her appreciation to him, for honouring their invitation at the Congress, and for all that he continues to do as the Episcopal Chair for the Laity and in the Vicariate.

In her turn, Obaapanyin Rose expressed to the Bishop that she was abreast of the needs of the Vicariate and had taken it upon herself to take full responsibility of the construction of a permanent Altar, and an Ambo, for the yet to be finished Cathedral. Hence, the donation of the 20,000 GHC for the commencement of the work.

Bishop Asiedu, deeply touched by this show of love and solidarity, thanked the President and the entire Society for all they are doing for the Church in the world, particularly for their mission to Donkorkrom.

“We have been long forgotten; so it is always a joy when people come to our aid,” he celebrated.

He also expressed profound gratitude to his brother, Fr. Gosu, for engineering the process, as he had always done in the past.

As part of the visit, the Bishop led the guests on a short tour round the Bishop’s compound, where they enjoyed the greenery, beautiful flowers, and the lovely sight of the rabbits in their cages.

The Society on same made a donation of six Computers to the St. Mary’s R/C JHS, Adeemmra, and some food items, clothing and detergents to the Mater Ecclesiae Skills Training Centre, at Kwaekese.
