Love Indiscriminately – Donkorkrom Bishop Urges Faithful of Tease Parish

The Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu, SVD, Bishop of Donkorkrom Apostolic Vicariate, has urged the faithful of St. Fidelis Parish, Tease, Kwahu Afram Plains South, in Ghana’s Eastern Region, to love one another without discrimination, after the example of Jesus, who showed his love to all, including his traitors.

He made this call in a homily during the April 2, 2026, Holy Thursday Mass at Tease.

The Bishop reflected on the action of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples, drawn from the day’s Gospel (John 13:1-15), which he described as “a sign of tremendous love for the disciples”.

“He loved them, and loved them to the last; to the point that he was prepared to do anything for them; for their good, for their happiness, for their life,” he reiterated.

The prelate buttressed the fact that it was the same love that Jesus had for each of the apostles that he had also for the likes of Peter and Judas Iscariot, who later denied and betrayed him, respectively.

Just like he had done for others, “he did not discriminate, he did not push them aside; he washed their feet,” he underpinned, maintaining that there is nothing we can do that can push God away from us.

He charged the Christians to follow Jesus’ Command of loving their neighbour, just as Jesus had loved them, to the point of offering his Body and Blood for their nourishment, during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

Underlining the Body and Blood of Christ as the best gift one could ever possess, the Chief Shepherd made it known to his flock that each time they attend Mass and celebrate the Eucharist, it must serve as a reminder to them of the tremendous love of God, shown in the person of Jesus Christ, who has made the Sacred Meal possible.

He further brought it to their notice that each time they receive Communion, Jesus goes to dwell in them, becomes one with them, and gives them the strength and energy to be able to show others the love they have received from him.

“Let us pray and ask the Lord to strengthen our efforts to love one another the way he himself has shown us; the way he has loved us,” he implored.

Present at the Holy Thursday Mass were the students of St. Fidelis Senior High Technical School, Tease, who took part in the singing, among other parishioners.
