The Very Rev. Fr. Bernard Adjei Appiah, SVD, Administrator of the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Donkorkrom, has admonished Catholics to participate actively, fully and consciously during Eucharistic Celebrations.

He made this known during the Eucharistic celebration to climax the 2025 Corpus Christi Celebration of the Cathedral, hosted by St. Theresa Catholic Church, Kwaekese, an outstation.

The Cathedral Administrator continued that the Mass will only have an impact on “our lives as believers if only we dispose ourselves well.”

“We have failed to experience the power of God during these celebrations because we don’t take them seriously as such,” he stressed.

He bemoaned the situations whereby Church members are distracted by phones, conversations with friends, and others during Mass.

These distractions according to Fr. Bernard prevents the faithful from enjoying the full spiritual blessings and graces endowed in such celebrations.

The Corpus Christi celebration is an expression of love and unity among humanity.

It is the moment where Christians gather to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Christ on the altar of Calvary.

The Cathedral Administrator therefore entreated believers to also give their lives to serve God and humanity.

“A life lived without complete sacrifice for one another is not worth it,” he noted.

He indicated that Abraham in the first reading offered a tenth of his entire produce to Melchizedek, the High Priest of the Most High God.

The father of our faith according to Fr. Bernard, “is teaching us to serve God and humanity.”

” We should learn to share what God has blessed us with for the betterment of humanity,” he urged.

He also believed that Corpus Christi is also celebrated to give Christ to the entire world, bless everyone with Christ, and bestow God’s favours upon the people.

He invoked the blessings of God upon the town and the land where the celebration is taking place.

He encouraged the parishioners to be opened in heart for God to bless their intentions during the celebration.

Other activities of the celebration included cultural performances, fundraising and procession through the town with the Body of Christ.

The Parish Pastoral Council was officially inaugurated with representations from the ten outstations led by Mr. Desmond Soglo, the chairman of the Church Council at the Cathedral in Donkorkrom.

The celebration was participated by church members from the various stations of the Parish.

Also present were the Religious in the Parish, the catechists, the Christian Mother’s Association and the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Society.
