Holy Rosary School, Asikasu, in the Kwahu Afram Plains North, Eastern Region of Ghana, run by the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary (MSHR), Ghana Region, has celebrated Career Day and the Graduation ceremonies of its KG 2, Primary 6, and JHS 3 Learners for the 2024/2025 Academic Year.
The July 22, 2025, double celebration, held on the school grounds, featured several speeches among other activities.
In a welcome address, Sr. Stella Nwosu, MSHR, Headmistress of the School, highlighted the purpose of the gathering, which was to “celebrate the success story of the learners”.
According to her, the MSHR-owned school is committed to the holistic formation of its children, which it has continued to uphold year after year.
She congratulated the graduands for their hard work so far and encouraged them to keep living out all they have learnt and will continue to learn in school and elsewhere.
She shared the hope that the knowledge they have acquired will improve their lives and that of others, thereby creating a better community for all.
Sr. Nwosu was grateful to God for being with the learners throughout their years at Holy Rosary School, and to the Holy Rosary Sisters who had paved the path on which she now treads. The Headmistress was equally indebted to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for always being there and supporting the school.
She commended the staff for their hard work and dedication, and the ‘inestimable’ parents of Holy Rosary school, for supporting the school and the education of their children.
The Holy Rosary Sister further solicited funds to secure more chairs for School meetings and celebrations.
“No amount is too small; know that God will always bless you for giving a helping hand for the good of others, especially children,” she stated.
Hon. Nana Samuel Kena, the Chief of Asikasu, who is also a Board Member of the School, appreciated the school management, staff, and learners for all the performances he witnessed.
He urged the parents to prioritize the education of their children and support them with their school needs, including books, uniforms, and payment of their fees, to enable them to attain their future career dreams, which they beautifully showcased during the celebration.
In his capacity as the Chairman of the occasion, Nana Kena, who was the former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu Afram Plains, North, made a passionate appeal to the Education Directorate to always involve Holy Rosary School, among other private schools, in their activities, including workshops and in-service trainings.
He maintained that the success of Holy Rosary School will be the credit of the Directorate, so they should not neglect the School.
Mr. Dawude Adamu, a Ghana Education Service (GES) staff, presenting a speech on behalf of the District Director of Education, Madam Victoria A.Y. Barku, who was unavoidably absent, buttressed the need for parents to invest in the education of their children, saying that they will surely reap the results someday.
Referring to the recitation of one of the KG 2 learners titled “Keep Moving,” he urged the parents to keep supporting the teachers and the children till they reach their intended goals.
“Parents, let us not grow weary of these, our learners. A day will come when you cannot do anything. When you cannot move out, you will need the support of the investment you have made, so don’t get tired. Keep investing in these, our young ones,” he urged.
He congratulated the learners for their “hardwork, dedication, and perseverance” and urged them to always keep in mind that they still have much to learn. “The skills you have acquired should be the foundation for your next level of education, at all levels,” he buttressed.
The Education Director’s representative appreciated the teachers for their efforts and dedication in teaching the young ones, which the day’s displays by the learners was a laudable testimony.
He further drew their attention to the fact that being a teacher is not just a call, but a sacred one; hence, they should do well to help the learners to choose and pursue their dreams. “Their bright future rests in your care. Nurture them well for us, to attain their dreams, as we see in their costumes,” he intreated.
Mr. Marvin Owusu Agyapong, on behalf of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Kate Mawusi, expressed deep satisfaction at the level of “knowledge and intelligence exhibited by the learners”.
“I must say I am at peace, knowing that the kids in our District are on the right path,” he celebrated and congratulated the graduands, noting the fact that it usually takes a lot of hard work to move from one stage of life to another amidst all the struggles of life.
He commended the teachers for their hard work and encouraged them to keep up with the good work, exhibiting “tolerance, passion, and love”.
He urged parents/guardians to liaise with teachers to help build a better future for the kids. “Let us prioritise education, be it formal and informal,” he stated, adding that we are all a product of one form of education or the other.
The DCE’s representative made it known to the school Administration that the office of the DCE is always open to welcome their pleas and petitions.
Sr. Cecilia Dike, MSHR, representing the Regional Leader of the Holy Rosary Sisters in Ghana, Sr. Nkechi Oraebosi Caroline, who was away on another important assignment, thanked everyone for honouring the invitation.
