Bear Witness to the Risen and Living Christ – Donkorkrom Bishop Urges Faithful

The Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu, SVD, Apostolic Vicar of the Donkorkrom Vicariate recently entreated the faithful to let their lives bear witness to the risen Christ in all their endeavours.
This, he said, is an example Mary Magdalene, an ardent disciple of Christ is giving to all believers.
Because, she went out to spread the good news of the resurrection to all people.
The Bishop made these known during the induction ceremony of Mr. Alexander Eisenhower Dzineku, the substantive headmaster of St. Fidelis Senior High Technical School,Tease, Kwahu Afram Plains South.
The ceremony was conducted in the context of a Eucharistic Celebration, which was officiated by Bishop Asiedu and was also the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene.
In his homily, which was on the theme “Mary Magdalene, a model of fidelity, love and service to the Lord”, the Prelate indicated that Mary had a special place in the women disciples of Christ.
Why because she dedicated her entire life to serve the Lord after her confession.
According to the Bishop, “she remained with the Lord, when almost everybody had abandoned him during his passion.”
He said, Magdalene remained steadfast by the Cross on Calvary on that Good Friday, with Mary, the mother of Jesus, when our Lord was crucified.
Mary became much in love with Christ, to the point that when they couldn’t find the body of the risen Lord, she became so worried that she couldn’t leave the scene when others left.
She became much in touched with the Lord. She had a deeper personal relationship with her Lord, her beloved.
In her search for the risen Lord, she “found the object of her love” as asserted by Pope St. Gregory the Great.
Like Mary Magdalene, Bishop Asiedu asked the faithful to “make Jesus the object of our love.”
“And we are invited to love the Lord wholeheartedly, to follow him devoutly and to be at his service faithfully,” he added.
The Prelate entreated all Christians to resolve to be the best Christian, the best disciple of Christ, that we can be. And may such quality of life show in our fidelity, love and service to the Lord and humanity.
In his goodwill message as the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Rev. Fr. Felix Awaitey Jnr entreated the new headmaster not to be overwhelmed with the challenges of the school.
“But I want you to choose hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord and re-affirm your enduring spirit of transformational outlook in every facet of the school’s life,” he stated.
He also called on the new headmaster to use the tool of team work as a pillar in his leadership.
Again, he entreated him to build on the good works of his predecessors to uplift the image of the school to a greater height.
Fr. Awaitey called on all and sundry, especially, students, staff and parents to support the new headmaster as he embarks on his leadership journey of the school.
Other activities of the celebration included, a parade and guard of honour for the new headmaster by the school cadet, cultural performances, good will messages, fundraising, and presentation of gifts.
Also present were priests and religious, Religious leaders from the Tease township, Chief and elders of Tease, National Commission of Civic Education ( NCCE) Director for Kwahu Afram Plains South, a representative of the District Director of Education for Kwahu Afram Plains South, members of Eastern and Zonal Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools ( CHASS), Principals of Vocational and Technical Schools, the staff of St. Fidelis Senior High Technical School, and the Alumni.
