The Church Knight, who is also a son of the Afram Plains, was particularly concerned about evangelisation in the Island Communities, as he appealed to people of goodwill to support him in procuring the necessary logistics for the Pastoral agents missioned to the Island Stations. This, he upheld, will help the Bishop and Priests to carry out their duties effectively and safely.
The Island (Lake) Mission or Dwarf Island, which serves as one of the 8 Parishes of the Donkorkrom Diocese, has 7 Outstations, namely: Nyakuikope, Menekope, Kpatsakope, Kokrobuta, Kedekope, Galilea and Battorkope.
He further expressed the ardent desire to get more people on board to join in the efforts to complete the Cathedral project, and also stretch out to other Parishes within the Diocese that lack a decent House of Worship, among other Diocesan long-standing projects, like the Catholic Secretariat, that is supposed to host the Bishop’s Office and the Pastoral Centre.
Sir. John Klu had contributed almost the entire amount for the roofing of the yet-to-be-completed Donkorkrom Cathedral as his 70th Birthday gift to the Church.
He had also helped raise funds in Accra for the completion and upgrading of the Cathedral Sacristies, the construction of the platform for the Bishop’s Cathedra (Chair), repainting of part of the Cathedral walls, amongst other works, before the Installation ceremony.
For Sir Klu, his coming to Donkorkrom to witness the Installation of the newly erected Donkorkrom Diocese was a “double joy” as it bore eloquent testimony to the fact that his and their little efforts in supporting the growth of the Church of Donkorkrom have not been fruitless; the Church is actually growing.
