In a Homily during the June 7, 2026 Mass of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, at Memchemfre, an Outstation of the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in the Catholic Diocese of Donkorkrom, Eastern Region of Ghana, the Cathedral Administrator, Very Rev. Fr. Bernard Adjei Appiah, SVD, told the faithful gathered from across the Parish that when Christ comes to dwell in them, through the reception of the Holy Eucharist, they become moving Tabernacles.

He opined that Christian worship is meant to bring change and development in the lives of the faithful and those around them, maintaining that once people gather at Mass, and receive the Body of Christ, they become moving Tabernacles, meaning that their lives then become examples for others to follow.

Buttressing further on the transformative power of the moving Tabernacle, which is Christ, dwelling in each and every Christian, the SVD Priest underpinned that when Christ moves, he brings blessings; wherever he passes, he satisfies the hungry and the thirsty living there, and brings peace amidst misunderstandings, quarrels or conflicts.

He drew parallels between the Holy Eucharist and the manna which God gave to his people through Moses, as captured in the First Reading (Deut.8:2-3,14-16), both of which were offered to humble humanity and stand as a reminder of their total dependence on God, who nourishes and sustains them.

“What we are receiving today is greater than manner,” he buttressed, calling for total reverence of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ by all.

The Cathedral Administrator prayed for a sense of unity and utter humility, on the part of the faithful, which will help them to achieve a common goal.

The Corpus Christi Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Solomon Gbelgo Amedorme, Assistant Cathedral Administrator and Rev. Fr. Gabriel Dabo-Gyamfi, Assisting Priest at St. Fidelis Parish, Tease.

There was a procession with the Blessed Sacrament along the Memchemfre community, with stops and benediction at four different stations with Altars, which had previously been prepared by the Church community, for the purpose.
